5 RV Renovations to Inspire Your Next Project

September 26, 2020

Looking for RV renovation inspiration? From modern design to luxe sophistication, these 5 before-and-after reveals will spark your creativity.

There’s something truly special about a great RV renovation. Since rigs are so much smaller than houses, your budget stretches farther. Even a modest reno fund is enough to create a spectacular space. From fresh coats of paint to funky light fixtures, we love seeing owners’ personal touches.

It’s been more than a year since we showcased our favourite vintage camper renos. Check out some beautiful RV renovation before-and-after photos we’ve discovered since then.

The Modern Bunkhouse

Follow podcast host Meagan Elling on Instagram for a video tour and plenty of inspiring photos of her renovated 5th wheel.

To keep the rig cozy in winter, she installed an electric fireplace. The white-and-grey colour scheme makes the space feel light and airy. Repainting was easy with a paint sprayer quality Farrow & Ball paint. A white hexagon tile backsplash adds texture without darkening the space.

The Cosy Vintage Camper

Layla Reckner and her little family changed the floorplan and the guts (wiring and plumbing) on their 1976 Argosy Airstream. By pivoting the living room design, they fit in a couch, bookshelf, and TV in the tiny room.

More than anything, this renovation showcases how small touches of charm and personality can upgrade a space. From plants to textured pillows and rugs, the decor feels welcoming and lived-in.

The Coastal Travel Trailer

The professional renovators at Wisco Flip took on the dark wood interior of a 2009 Four Winds DSL travel trailer. They turned the RV into a serene coastal-themed retreat. What makes this reno stand out is the colour scheme: white and a lovely deep blue that doesn’t darken the space.

This project reminds us of similar modern, airy designs—but it raises the bar for sophistication. Decorating with texture wallpaper rather than bulky finishing helps the rooms feel simultaneously upscale and minimalist. Gold touches and carefully curated greenery keep the space refined.

The Luxe Fifth-Wheel

Follow Kristyn Cole for luxurious-looking designs for your home and RV. What makes the Cole family’s reno is the dark colour scheme. Many RVers make their spaces feel bigger with all-white decor. Kristyn, on the other hand, opted for moody greys, piles of thick blankets, dark wood cabinetry, and metallic accents. The result is a livable luxury space for the entire family.

If you like Kristyn’s style but aren’t in the mood for a complete overhaul, try adding velvety throw pillows, twinkly lights, and a statement light fixture.

‘Cozy on Wheels’ Full-time RV Home

This RV renovated by RV Fixer Upper is a pink-and-green dream. The colours are fun without being overwhelming. The occupant, a full-time RVer, has plenty of space to spread out.

This overhaul one included removing the upper cabinets in the dining area. More headspace immediately makes the room feel bigger. Other thoughtful touches include a playful pop of pink, a temporary cutting board on the stove to expand counter space, and a bookshelf in place of the TV (who needs a giant television when there’s a beautiful, wild world to explore outside?).
