Beachside Campgrounds to Head to this Summer

June 12, 2019

It’s almost summer! And wow—there are so many must-see destinations in Canada you’re probably dying to check out. Do you have big plans to spend time in the mountains this season or is lake life more your style? Do you follow the crowd to the hottest spots or prefer to drive your RV off the beaten path?

Whether you want to choose only campgrounds with pools and playgrounds, or are looking into a specific destination, our Campground Finder can help you find the perfect spot.

Just to make the decision a little harder for you, here’s a few beachside campgrounds to head to this summer. Let’s go to the beach!

Lake Cowichan, British Columbia

Head to Vancouver Island if you like a mix of all the landscapes: sandy beaches meet mountain ranges that fall into the ocean. Yes, please! Lake Cowichan, about an hour drive from Victoria, does not disappoint. Beaver Lake Resort sits lakeside, complete with beaches and hiking trails for you to explore.

Bon Echo Provincial Park, Ontario

Ontario’s lakeside life meets natural history and outdoor adventures in Bon Echo Provincial Park. Swim in the beaches, hike the trails, and keep your eyes peeled for hundreds of pictographs carved into the Mazinaw Rock.

Bird Hills Provincial Park, Manitoba

Did you know that Manitoba has its own lake country? Camp near the beach in Bird Hills Provincial Park. The year-round park boasts over 8000 acres of wildlife and over 400 RV campsites—so much room to explore!

Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Nova Scotia

Canada’s east coast never disappoints. Drive the Cabot Trail and choose from five front country campgrounds in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Visitors flock to the water at Ingonish Beach to cool off in the summer heat.

Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park, British Columbia

Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park in Vernon, British Columbia is a photographer’s dream when the water warms and turns bright blue-green. The vibrant colour comes from limestone crystals of the glaciers. As if we needed another reason to love the Okanagan!

There are quite a few options for campgrounds in and around Vernon:
Cedar Falls Campground and RV Park
Swan Lake RV Park and Campground
Historic O’Keefe Ranch

Kouchibouguac National Park, New Brunswick

Walk from your campsite to the saltwater Kellys Beach in Kouchibouguac National Park, New Brunswick. Walk the boardwalk, bike the surrounding trails, or play in the sand at the beach—all closest to the main campground.

Forillon National Park, Quebec

Everyone needs to see the Gaspe Peninsula at least once in their life! Forillon National Park is on the tip of the peninsula in Quebec where the beach meets the mountains. If you’re lucky, you might spot some whales!

Horseshoe Lake, Ontario

If you want beaches, you need to drive to Ontario’s lake country. The Muskokas are every bit as beautiful as the locals claim. Terrawoods Resort overlooks Horseshoe Lake in the heart of lake country.
