Simple Camping Breakfasts to Feed a Crowd

clock 6 MINUTES READ

We’re all about keeping things simple when on the road. That rule of thumb applies to what’s on the menu , too! The goal is to spend less time cooking and more time enjoying the food, especially when you want to get outside for the day. Let’s feed the crowd with a simple, tasty breakfast and then head out exploring. Who’s with us?

Camping Breakfast Sandwich

You can’t go wrong with a classic camping breakfast sandwich. Ham and eggs are the main ingredients, as usual. Add other toppings as you like! This recipe suggests avocado, cheese and salsa. When cooking for a group, fry enough eggs and ham for the whole bunch, then have people DIY their sandwich toppings.

Campfire Cinnamon Rolls

These campfire cinnamon rolls are so simple and taste delicious! Use a package of crescent rolls to create these quick roll-ups – dip the dough in a cinnamon and sugar mixture before cooking over the campfire. Option to drizzle a simple powdered sugar frosting before serving. A sweet breakfast to feed a crowd.

Camping Pancake Mix

Premake pancake mix to save time cooking, storage space and the added mess while camping. Mix the dry ingredients at home, then add water or milk and eggs as needed when you’re ready get started. Cook on the skillet and serve with toppings you have on-hand.

Bacon and Egg Breakfast Skillet

You only need one cast iron pan to cook this bacon and egg breakfast skillet over the campfire coals. Start simple with bacon, potatoes, eggs and cheese. Add fresh toppings of your choosing for even more flavour. Pro tip: leftover veggies from dinner the day before are always a great addition.

Johnny Apple Seed Oatmeal

Although not as glamorous as the other options on this list, oatmeal is a nutritious, easy option to feed a crowd. This Johnny apple seed oatmeal is warm and filling with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, seeds (hemp, flax, chia, etc.) and a bit of maple syrup for sweetness. Boil all ingredients in a single pot for easy cleanup.

Hot Ham and Swiss Croissants

Prepare these hot ham and swiss croissants at home, wrap them individually in tin foil and throw them on the campfire for a quick and easy breakfast on-the-go. The recipe calls for homemade honey mustard, but any mustard of your choosing will taste great!

Campfire French Toast

This recipe is for campfire french toast, but it’s easy to feed a crowd when the recipe calls for an entire loaf! Slice a fresh loaf, wrap in parchment paper and tinfoil, pour egg mixture between slices, and cook over the campfire. This one is topped with strawberries and almond slices, but those could easily be replaced with any fresh berries on hand. Just add maple syrup.

Campfire Bacon

This is more about the technique than a recipe, but have you thought of cooking bacon on skewers before? Place these bacon skewers over a campfire for extra smokey flavour in just 30 minutes. Serve with any of the other breakfast recipes above! Which will you try first?
