Spectacular Summits in Alberta

The mountains are calling. The stunning traverses, the majestic peaks, the rugged terrain – it’s a big part of the abundant natural beauty in the province of Alberta. Panoramic views a-plenty, Alberta is an amazing travel destination for avid hikers, bikers, campers and glampers alike.

1. Moraine Lake

Nestled in the Valley of the Ten Peaks in the heart of Banff National Park, you’ll find the amazing gem that is Moraine Lake. With postcard views like this, it’s not surprising that Lake Moraine is “one of the most photographed lakes in the world”*. This stunning photo from Canadian explorer and outdoor adventure photographer Dax Justin paints a perfect picture of this breathtaking landscape.

2. Two Jack Lake

Picturesque views all around make Two Jack Lake a nature lover’s paradise. The water is a sparkling vibrant blue hue and the surrounding mountain range is truly awe-inspiring. Don’t forget to pack your hiking boots and your binoculars in your RV – there’s plenty to explore while trekking along the trails, paddling on the lake, gazing at the starry sky from your campsite or kicking back in these cozy Parks Canada adirondack chairs.

3. Nordegg

A hamlet in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, Nordegg is a little bit off the beaten trail – known by locals as “the road less travelled”. If you’re craving a scenic drive and a little peace and quiet away from the peak-season crowds, Nordegg is a fantastic backcountry base for outdoor enthusiasts to get their Wildhood on.

4. Waterton Lakes National Park

A National Park since 1895**, Waterton is truly an outdoor gem packed with (drool-worthy) picture-perfect views for every member of your crew – fur babies included. It’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its incredible landscapes and ecosystem.

5. Spirit Island at Maligne Lake

Tranquil waters, amazing snow-capped mountains, magnificent wildlife and the peaceful calm of Spirit Island are four reasons why Maligne Lake is a must-see in Jasper National Park. It’s also a perfect spot to enjoy a cuppa joe while gazing at the spectacular view.

ps – No roadway or trail access to Spirit Island. Venture out by canoe, kayak or authorized tour boat.

6. Lake Louise

If you’re on a quest for the quintessential Canadian Rockies destination, Lake Louise is just the ticket. The mountain range and forest that surrounds the lake is truly a sight to behold. Lake Louise is also a year-round hub for many an outdoor activity – canoeing and hiking in the warmer months and skiing, skating, snowshoeing and sleigh rides in the wintertime.

(And yes, the lake really is that shimmering hue of emerald and turquoise blue in the summer.)
