There are plenty of myths and misconceptions with the RV lifestyle that we are here to debunk for you.

Over the years quite a few myths about RVing have existed that on the surface can look like a turn-off. We’re here to help you squash these myths so you too can enjoy the RV lifestyle.

Affordability

One of the major myths is that RVing is for the one percenters of the world with plenty of disposable income. This couldn’t be further from the truth. With renting always being an option for the part-time RVer, a wide selection of different RV types that suit your budget, and an amazing array of financing options, RVing can be incredibly affordable. All you need to do is some basic research to find the right RV for you. Some great tools to get you started are below:

Drivability

A lot of people incorrectly think they need to be a professional bus or truck driver to pilot or tow an RV. While an adjustment period exists whenever driving something new or outside of your comfort zone, it’s not as difficult as it may look. Like anything, practice makes perfect. The best thing to do is start off on an empty lot and practice backing up and turning. Once you get a feel for your new rig or camper, start to veer into smaller roads and then graduate to busier streets. You will be a master in no time and remember to be relaxed and confident!

Accessibility

Another myth about RVing is that there is nowhere to store or park your RV if you live in a more metropolitan area. This couldn’t be further from the truth. In any major city, there are plenty of options to store your motorhome or trailer. Learn about RV storage options and more in our RV starter section.

Comfort

RVing isn’t comfortable and is no different than sleeping on the couch. This is very incorrect. While certain units lend themselves to a more “roughing it” way of camping, most RV’s are as comfortable as your bed at home. It all depends on the unit and experience you are looking for. If you want to really feel like you are camping with nature there is an RV for you. If you want to feel like you are in a 5-star resort, there is an RV for you. Another misconception is there isn’t enough space for multiple people. Again, you oversee your experience. Some RV’s are like mini condos with all the comforts of home.
