This Father’s Day, avoid falling for the classic, “I don’t need anything, you’re my #1 gift.” Although dad speaks the truth, when thinking about what to buy our own dad this Father’s Day, who better to look to then Canada’s ultimate adventure guide and Olympic champ Jon Montgomery for inspiration!
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Jon Montgomery is the host of Amazing Race Canada and Olympic Gold medal skeleton racer. Jon is an athlete, adventure lover and world traveller, but more importantly a family man and a father of two who loves to spend quality time outdoors with his wife Darla, and son & daughter Jaxon and Lennon. We caught up with Jon to round up his top rated gifts for all the Dad’s who crave adventure.
“There’s nothing that says summer like playing catch with your loved ones. My Dad and I would play “catch” while we bbq dinner – I would recommend playing catch after dinner… unless you like char.”
“You don’t even have to leave the yard or the deck on your condo to set up a tent. Sleeping outside or playing in a tent is an escape from the everyday and a great way to spend time problem solving and talking about “how things used to be”.
“There are a million things one can do with a hatchet, but splitting kindling for a fire has to be my favourite thing to do. Making something big smaller, and then burning it is cathartic, and a great way to keep warm and miserable mosquitoes at bay”
“I’ve recently been given a telescope for my birthday, and I’m super excited to get it set up and explore the cosmos… and if I can’t get it that dialled, I know I should be able to at least see the moon, and for this I’m excited.
“There are lots of styles out there, but I am personally a fan of the “mug” – because I’m a little bit butter-fingered and love a solid handle to hang on to my precious beverage of choice. Don’t abuse beverages… keep them secure in your hot/cold mug.
So, did Jon Montgomery help you find the perfect gift for your dad? We hope so! Want more RV inspiration, tips, and travel advice? Join our community on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
