Then, take at least a day to explore the epic Riding Mountain National Park, and finish your trip at one of the only sand dune areas in Canada at Spruce Woods Provincial Park.

Canadian Museum for Human Rights
An architectural wonder, the Canadian Museum of Human rights is located in downtown Winnipeg on the banks of the Red River. The museum is an exploration of the importance of human rights with interactive exhibits, galleries, and guided tours. It is an inspirational and educational experience for all ages!

The Forks
After you’re done exploring the Museum for Human Rights, walk next door to The Forks for a local meal, shopping, and sightseeing. The Forks is a historic landmark in Winnipeg, and a gathering place with shopping, restaurants, attractions and events of all kinds. The Forks is in downtown Winnipeg, at the intersection of the Assiniboine and Red rivers.

Assiniboine Park Zoo
Spend a day wandering over 80 acres at the Assiniboine Park Zoo, and come face to face with over 200 species of the animal kingdom! Built in 1904, the Assiniboine Park Zoo is located just minutes from downtown Winnipeg, with educational programs for children and adults alike. It also allows RV parking for smaller rigs.

Birds Hill Provincial Park
Take a short drive (24 km) north of Winnipeg to enjoy a day at Birds Hill Provincial Park. This year-round provincial park covers 8300 acres of incredible natural beauty. The park centers around Kingfisher Lake, and has a 30-km trail system for hiking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. If you want to stay overnight, there’s a large campground close to the lake beach with 470 RV sites with full hookup options; it’s open May through October. The “Circle Drive Tour” is a must-do on your visit to Birds Hill. You’ll see six of the park’s most beautiful areas from the comfort of your vehicle on this scenic drive. Other things to see and do at Birds Hill Park are the Manitoba Horse Council’s Equestrian Centre, the 1984 Pope John Paul II Papal Site, and the famous Winnipeg Folk Festival, which is hosted there every July. Be sure to fill your belly at Pineridge Hollow at least once during your visit! This “farm to table” restaurant and general store serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and reservations are strongly recommended.

Grand Beach Provincial Park
Continue north to the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg, and soak up the sun at Grand Beach Provincial Park. This popular park is famous for its family-friendly beach and amazing white sand dunes. If it’s not quite beach season, the park also has great bird-watching, boating, biking, kiteboarding, and snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in the winter. Spend a night at the campground, which has 306 campsites (48 seasonal campsites) with electric only service.

Winnipeg Beach Provincial Park
You’ll definitely want to check out the western shore of Lake Winnipeg too! The best place to do this is at Winnipeg Beach Provincial Park, popular for its beach, fishing, golf, and windsurfing. Its famous boardwalk was the place see and be seen decades ago. It was rebuilt in recent years for historical relevance, so be sure to take an afternoon stroll to enjoy the sunset! If you plan to visit in July, you can enjoy the “Boardwalk Days” festival with midway rides, live music, a parade, and a fireworks show. Rubber Ducky RV Resort
Rubber Ducky RV Resort is a family-oriented campground that includes two heated pools, mini golf, bumper boats, and also cabins and motel rooms. It’s open April through October and offers nightly, weekly and monthly rates. It’s an excellent place to stay the night between your stops at Winnipeg Beach Provincial Park and Saint Ambroise Beach Provincial Park — or make it your home base while you explore Winnipeg for a couple of days as it’s just northwest of downtown.

Riding Mountain National Park
Continuing on your Manitoba adventure, Riding Mountain National Park is a must-see! Riding Mountain National Park is one of the five Canadian National Parks with a resort town inside of the park. A standout area of 2,969 square km on top of the Manitoba Escarpment. The park has 400 km of trails and is renowned for its rugged beauty. While you’re there, you can also enjoy tennis, golf, playgrounds, picnicking, or grab a bite at one of the many restaurants.

Camp at the Wasagaming Campground
This is one of the largest campgrounds in Manitoba with 427 reservable sites from unserviced to full service. The campground is open mid-May through mid-October. It is minutes from the main beach area, restaurants, golf, and numerous outdoor activities.

Eat the Lakehouse in Riding Mountain NP
You’ll definitely want to consider taking a break from the RV and enjoying a night at The Lakehouse restaurant and hotel. The country-chic hotel is located inside Riding Mountain National Park, very close to Clear Lake village. A family-friendly lodging choice with a shop serving specialty coffee, unique ice creams and smoothies.
